VIRG started dancing at the age of 10 and entered the entertainment business at 16. Throughout his career Virg has traveled around the world working for famous artists and corporations and has done countless music videos , back dancing, choreographing and TV commercials.
Currently VIRG splits his time between his hometown of New York, Los Angeles and Japan. While in Japan VIRG keeps a busy schedule teaching special workshops all over the country and also producing unique events and auditions to help young Japanese dancers and artists dreams come true. With his experience, teaching across cultures comes naturally and now Metropolis magazine has decided to team up with VIRG to bring an affordable course to Tokyo that busy people can attend.
Now, YOU can join The Dance Workshop and receive professional instruction from a real professional instructor.
Comment from VIRG:
“Growing up in New York as a dance artist I had first hand experience to all the culture has to offer. I love Hip Hop and music is my life. Performing and teaching makes it possible to share my knowledge and to help others be a part of this exciting and wonderful culture that I call home. I am really looking forward to The Dance Workshop. Thank you to Metropolis and to all of you for making this happen!”

As experienced by VIRG
Although Hip Hop as we know it started in the Bronx, New York , the roots of Hip Hop can be traced all the way back to Africa where black music and dance began. Hip Hop is a culture and for many people it’s a way of life. The Hip Hop culture has its own unique dancing, music, fashion, way to speak, and it even has its very own art form called graffiti. Hip Hops four main elements are Emceeing (known more by its commercialized name RAP), D.J.ing (in the style of cutting and scratching), B-Boying (a.k.a. break dancing), and Graffiti (not referring to the amateur vandalism you see scribbled on walls in subways but to the beautiful artistic masterpieces you can find covering large portions of some walls and on the outside of trains in the inner city).
Hip Hop is always evolving and expanding. What started out as just a culture primarily recognized by young African Americans and Hispanics has grown into a multi-billion dollar, multi-cultural, international industry. As the music of Hip Hop is constantly evolving so is its dancing. Now in addition to break dancing Hip Hop also has other forms and styles of dance including middle school, new school, locking, popping, boogie, crump and more!
